Recently, I've been listening to the radio more often. I'm studying up on what makes a good radio show so I can hopefully one day become a radio personality, among other things. Plus, that's my only source of entertainment at work other than my coworkers occasionally bantering back and forth. After listening to various radio shows for about 2 weeks straight I just have one question.....
Why is it that everybody and they mama wanna make a break up song when you and your significant other broke up or have recently broken up? Or better yet, why do old break up songs just so happen to play on the radio a little more often than normal after a break up? I don't understand it. It's like some magical music fairy flutters in and out of the lives of fans, then reports it to artists so they can make a song out of it. Give me a break!
And what makes it worse is that each song has a specific memory attached to it. You got the songs that remind you of the good times you and your ex had, the songs that remind you of why ya'll broke up in the first place, the songs you can picture him dedicating to you (good, bad, or indifferent), and the songs that help you heal when everything is said and done. It's as if suddenly the radio, or rather songs on the radio, become the soundtrack of your life. Coincidence? HA! I think not. -_-
I don't know about ya'll, but here's the current soundtrack of my life: (not in any particular order):
- Fantasia- Bittersweet
- Trey Songz- Can't Be Friends
- Marques Houston- Circles
- Chrisette Michele- Be Ok
- Chrisette Michele- Porcelain Doll
- Eminem Feat. Rhianna- Love the Way You Lie
- Chris Brown- Deuces
- Maguel feat. J Cole: All I Want Is You
- Fantasia- Ain't Gone Beg
- Fantasia- Free Yourself
- Fantasia- Got Me Waiting
- Trey Songz- Hatin' Love
- Kelly Clarkson- Since You Been Gone
- NeYo- Part of the List
- NeYo- So You Can Cry
- Tamia- Me
- Ciara- So Hard
- LL Cool J feat. Jennifer Lopez- All I Have
- TLC- No Scrubs
- Amerie- More than Love
- Amerie- Why R U
- Trey Songz- Neighbor's Know My Name
- Beyonce- Halo
- Jordin Sparks- Battlefield
- Nicki Minaj- Good Love
- Mary J. Blidge- Not Goin' Cry
- Faith Evans- You Used to Love Me
- Michael Jackson- Man in the Mirror
Whether we all realize it or not, music can effect, inspire, and change people's lives. You don't know who's life you can help by adding songs to this list. Someone might read this post, download a song, and finally feel understood; finally feel like the pain or struggle they are going through isn't too much to bear.
Now, I know this might sound a little extreme, but you never know what's going on behind a person's smile, or in this case, email address/blog alias.
Until my next post, Be Blessed and make sure your LEGACY is like no other.
